Satara Home and Baby FAQs
Honest answers from the team at Satara Home and Baby in Middleton, Wisconsin
Most of the questions we hear at the shop and over email fall into a handful of buckets: strollers, car seats, travel systems, and how organic bedding is actually different from what you'd find at a big box store. We put our answers here so you can read them on your own time. If you still want a second opinion after this, give us a call at the store or message us through satarahome.com.
Compatibility & Adapters Quick Reference
You need the MESA and Bassinet adapters for Minu/Minu V2. They install with no tools, the stroller folds with the adapters on, and they’re color-coded for left and right.
UPPAbaby makes a dedicated Chicco adapter that fits the KeyFit 30, KeyFit 30 Zip, KeyFit 30 Zip Air, Fit2, Fit2 LE, and Fit2 Air. Quick snap-in installation. Note that for double-stroller setups, the adapter version without the tab is required.
You need the PIPA adapter ring for Vista/Vista V2 and Cruz/Cruz V2 strollers. For the Vista V3 and Cruz V3, you’ll need the updated Maxi-Cosi/Nuna/Cybex adapter set.
System & Accessory Decisions
If you fly with your gear more than once or twice a year, yes. The Travel Bag for Mesa includes UPPAbaby’s Travel Safe Program — register the bag and damage during air travel is covered by UPPAbaby. Worth it just for the insurance.
It depends. The bassinet is the safest stroller mode for newborn naps because it lets baby lie completely flat. It’s also approved for overnight sleep, which means it can double as a side-sleeper or travel bassinet. If you walk a lot in the first 6 months, the bassinet is genuinely useful. If you mostly use the car seat in the stroller, you can skip it.
Only if you’re planning a second child or want the option of a double. The RumbleSeat V3 (sold separately) attaches to the Vista to create a tandem double stroller. If you’re sticking with one child, skip it and save the money for accessories you’ll actually use.
Car Seat Comparisons
The Mesa V3 is easier to install and clicks directly to UPPAbaby strollers. The Nuna PIPA RX has rigid LATCH connectors and a slightly different safety profile. They’re both excellent, and the right answer depends on which stroller you’re pairing it with. Full breakdown: UPPAbaby vs Nuna.
Most families start with the Mesa or Aria infant seat from birth and switch to the Rove convertible around 9–18 months. The infant seats are easier to carry baby in and out of the car as a sleeping carrier; the Rove stays installed in the car and grows with your child to age 4 or beyond. You don’t need both at once, but you’ll likely own both over time.
Choose the Aria V2 if weight, portability, and the load leg matter most. It’s 6 lbs, GREENGUARD Gold certified, and includes the stability leg the Mesa lacks. Choose the Mesa V3 if installation simplicity is your priority — NHTSA rates it best-in-class for ease of use, and it’s slightly less expensive. Both attach to the Vista V3 and Cruz V3 directly without adapters.
Stroller Comparison
The Vista V2 includes the bassinet in the box and is often available at a discount. The V3 has a magnetic harness, longer canopy, improved suspension, and updated all-season seat, but the bassinet is sold separately. If your budget is tight and you’re fine with the V2 features, it’s a great value while supplies last.
The Minu V3 wins for travel, urban transit, and compact storage. The Cruz V3 wins for daily comfort, smoother ride, larger basket, and reversible seat. Many families end up with both. If you can only pick one and you fly often or live in a city apartment, choose the Minu. Otherwise, the Cruz is the more capable everyday stroller.
The Vista is an everyday full-size stroller designed for sidewalks and varied terrain. The Ridge is a true jogging stroller with bigger wheels, lockable front swivel, and a frame designed for running. If you’re a runner, get the Ridge. If you’re a walker who occasionally goes off the sidewalk, the Vista handles it well.
Get the Vista V3 if you want a stroller that can grow into a double, you need lots of basket space, or you walk on rough terrain. Get the Cruz V3 if you want lighter, smaller, and you only need to push one child. Same brand quality, same ride feel, different sizes. Full comparison: Vista V3 vs Cruz V3.
