The Bedworks of Maine Portland bed combines the practicality of a standard bookcase headboard with the elegance of fine design, a combination that really works. Made of solid North American ash, a superior hardwood with a beautiful grain.

It is hand-sanded and then finished with a five-step finishing process.

The Portland features metal-on-metal corner connection frame assembly for added strength and durability and solid hardwood slats for excellent mattress support (Bedworks doesn't use pine because it's too soft).

The Bedworks of Maine finishes contain no formaldehyde. The lacquer finish contains no high solids and no VOC off gassing after three days of air drying.
