About Us

Satara Baby and Satara Home (formerly Home Environment) opened in Madison, Wisconsin in 1995. Since that time it has been our mission to offer products for the family and home that promote personal health and reduce environmental impact. Satara offers products that assist its customers in creating a healthier nursery and home, contribute to environmental sustainability, and support fair trade.

You might remember us from our days on Henry Street, just off State Street in downtown Madison. In 2007 we moved further west in Madison for increased space in expanding our baby store. Both Satara Baby and Satara Home are featured in our showroom, displaying responsibly produced and safe products for the whole family.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and love to share with our customers our knowledge about the benefits of natural materials and the benefits of our eco-friendly products. Our showroom features a broad selection of organic mattresses in sizes from crib to king, including traditional innerspring mattresses and natural latex mattresses. Our mattresses are constructed of natural and organic materials, processed without toxic chemicals and without chemical flame retardants.

We offer a fine selection of baby and adult bedding made from beautiful organic cotton, bamboo and silk. An all-natural lifestyle doesn’t have to mean giving up style, comfort and high quality. By incorporating color into natural themes and patterns, our manufacturers have extended the palette for environmentally aware families. We also offer latex mattress toppers, organic cotton and pure wool mattress toppers as well as comforters, and a large selection of natural fiber pillows.

For the nursery, we offer natural latex crib mattresses or the traditional innerspring style mattress, both with organic cotton and pure wool quilting and made without toxic chemicals and chemical flame retardants. We also feature organic baby bedding, clothes, toys, bottles, cloth diapers, baby carriers, and a myriad of other wonderfully natural and safe baby products.
